The Southern African Operation is the historical core business of the METCASH AFRICA Group, with 128 Cash & Carry outlets trading as METRO and ALLIANCE, distributing groceries and related consumer goods to the trade.
It also operates 13 TRADE CENTRE Wholesale stores, offering a broad range of goods including general merchandise.
In addition there are 49 Liquor outlets trading as LIQUOR WORLD or LIQUOR WAREHOUSE sited strategically throughout the region.
The Group has 2 FRIENDLY DISTRIBUTION CENTRES which service approximately 265 company-franchised FRIENDLY stores, as well as garage forecourt stores and independent supermarkets with the additional services of delivery, salespeople and credit facilities.
It also operates 3 STAX outlets that provide Retail shopping for electronic, household and other consumer durables.
In addition more than 2 500 Independent Traders are currently subscribed to the various franchised and banner identities run by the Group.
