The Southern African Operation is the historical core business of the METCASH AFRICA Group, with 61 Cash n Carry outlets, distributing groceries and related consumer goods to the traders.

In addition there are 8 METRO HYPERS . These stores have been converted from TRADE CENTRES intoshopping malls with half the space being sublet to national tenants such as FRUIT & VEG CITY as well as MICA and CRAZY PLASTICS. The METRO section offers a comprehensive range of food, general merchandise and in some instances, butchery and bakery sections. 

. In addition there are 35 Liquor outlets trading as METRO LIQUOR and LIQUOR WORLD sited strategically throughout the country and the Southern Region
